Measure twice, cut once!

For an entire summer when I was 17, working at a sheet metal fabricator, this lesson was drilled into me for six… long… weeks.

Every day, the manager would say, 'Measure twice, cut once, if you do that, you won’t f*** up!' and believe you me, f*** ups were not tolerated.

The simple lesson here was to double-check your work before you commit.

This has stuck with me throughout my career as a Database Administrator and now as a Data Engineer. I am super careful; some would say too careful. Do I care? Nope. I’m not going down for a stupid mistake.
